Chronotron: The Time Machine - The Experiment

Leo was a genius but also a troublemaker. He loved science and technology but also pranks and mischief. He was constantly inventing new gadgets and devices and using them for fun and chaos. He always got into trouble with his parents, teachers, and peers.

But he didn’t care. He had a dream: to travel through time and see the past and the future. He had a passion: to explore the mysteries of the universe and change the course of history. He planned to build a time machine and make it work.

He had been working on his project for months, secretly and obsessively, in his basement. He had collected all the necessary parts and materials, from old computers and radios to wires and batteries. He had studied all the theories and formulas, from Einstein and Hawking to quantum physics and wormholes. He had designed and assembled his device, a modified microwave oven with a digital display and a keyboard.

He called it the Chronotron.

He was ready to test it.

He waited until his parents were asleep, then sneaked out of his room and went to the basement. He turned on the lights and looked at his creation with pride and excitement.

He opened the microwave door and put a banana inside. He closed the door and typed a date on the keyboard: July 4, 1776.

He pressed the start button.

The microwave beeped and started to spin. The banana disappeared.

Leo anxiously watched as the digital display counted from 60 seconds to zero.

The microwave beeped again and stopped spinning. The banana reappeared inside.

Leo opened the microwave door and took out the banana. He peeled it and took a bite.

He spat it out immediately.

It didn’t taste enjoyable. It was rotten and moldy.

Leo frowned and looked at the banana. He saw that it had a stamp on it that read:

“Property of Benjamin Franklin”

He gasped in astonishment.

It worked!

He had sent the banana back in time!

He had given it to one of the founding fathers of America!

He had changed history!

He wondered what else he could do with his time machine. He asked what other dates he could visit. He wondered what other events he could alter.

He felt a surge of curiosity. He wanted to try again.

He grabbed another banana from a bunch he had bought earlier. He put it in the microwave and typed another date: April 15, 1912.

It tasted normal. It was fresh and sweet.

Leo smiled and looked at the banana. He saw that it had a sticker on it that read:

“Titanic”

He gasped in amazement.

It worked again!

He had sent the banana forward in time!

He had given it to one of the passengers of the doomed ship!

He had changed history again!

He wondered what else he could do with his time machine. He asked what other dates he could visit. He wondered what other events he could alter.

He felt a surge of excitement. He wanted to try again.

But he heard a loud noise upstairs before he could grab another banana. It sounded like someone was breaking into his house.

He heard footsteps on the stairs, coming closer to the basement door.

He heard voices outside, speaking in a foreign language he didn’t recognize.

He heard guns being cocked, ready to fire.

He realized he was in danger. He realized someone was after him. He realized someone knew about his time machine.

He panicked. He didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know where to go.

Then he had an idea.

He grabbed his backpack and stuffed his laptop inside. He ran to the microwave and opened the door. He climbed inside with his pack.

He typed a random date on the keyboard: October 21, 2015.

He pressed the start button.

The microwave beeped and started to spin. Leo disappeared.

The basement door burst open. A group of armed men stormed in, wearing black suits and sunglasses. They spoke with accents that sounded Russian or German or something else.

They looked around the basement, searching for their target.

They saw the microwave oven’s digital display counting from 60 seconds to zero.

They saw their target’s name on a label stuck on the microwave door:

“Leo”

They realized they were too late. They realized their target had escaped. They realized their target had traveled through time.

They cursed and shouted.

They fired their guns at the microwave, hoping to destroy it.

But it was no use.

The microwave beeped and stopped spinning. Leo was gone.

To be continued…
